Back to main map

Trail: Rim Trail at Lafayette, CA Reservoir

Parking Fee: Park in the main lot for $1.5/hr or $7 for the day

Dog Friendly: Yes on leash

Best times to visit: After the rains for peak waterfalls!

Difficulty: 5.1 mile loop This trail has some really steep (nearly 25%!) graded hills. The hills aren’t super long but they will give you a workout

Elevation: ~900 ft of total elevation change.

Tips: Very little shade. The paths are wide, so shorts are fine, but bring sunscreen and appropriate cover given the lack of shade. There’s a playground at the start of the trail to the east side. That part of the trail is paved and is a much more family friendly route you can take with littles. There are also picnic tables on either end of the parking lot area that are great reservoir viewing areas.

Always leave no trace and I hope to see you on the trail!
